Bertil Lintner has lived in Thailand since 1979 and is currently the Burma and Laos correspondent for the Far Eastern Economic Review, where one of his colleagues was Adam Schwarz. He has written numerous articles for Asian, American and European publications, and has published several books including Land of Jade: A journey through insurgent Burma (1990)and Burma in Revolt: Opium and insurgency since 1948 (1994). Bertil has made regular contributions to The Asia Yearbook since 1985. He is widely respected as an authority on crime in Asia.
