Deirdre Raftery was a teacher in a large Dublin community school for six years before returning to Trinity College. She is now Deputy Head of the School of Education and Lifelong Learning at University College Dublin. She has published extensively on the development of education in Ireland. Catherine Kilbride is director of an education consultancy offering academic planning services to parents and to schools (www.educonsult.ie). Her twenty years' teaching experience in different school types includes seven years as principal of a Dublin school (primary and secondary). She currently lectures in Education Management at University College Dublin.
