John Orbell is a retired business archivist and business historian. He spent most of his career with Baring Brothers, the merchant bankers, where he looked after their distinguished collection of business archives and pictures. He was for 20 years a trustee of the Business Archives Council. His books include a history of Barings and a guide to bank archives.
