Born in 1870, Ivan Bunin fled Russia soon after the Bolshevik Revolution to spend the remainder of his life in France. A critically acclaimed poet and translator as well as prose writer, he received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1933. Today he remains one of Russia's most cherished authors.
