Bücher von Joanna McMillan

Born in Scotland and now adopted by the nation as an honorary Aussie, Dr Joanna McMillan's ever-growing following is the result of her high profile within the media, health and fitness industries. Having completed a Bachelor Degree in Science with First Class Honours in Nutrition and Dietetics in Scotland, Dr Joanna moved to Australia in 1999 and won a scholarship to complete her PhD with The University of Sydney. Her PhD was with Prof Jennie Brand-Miller at University of Sydney in her GI research group. She looked at different diets varying in GI and protein intake for body composition change, weight loss and CVD risk. As part of that she also studied evolutionary diets (higher in protein) and so was reading about paleo long before any of the media were interested! All up, her research studies give her good background for the Get Lean book in particular. She sometimes also uses the term 'nutrition scientist' over 'dietitian' or 'nutritionist' to show her background in academics and research. Today, Dr Joanna is the founder of Get Lean, an online lifestyle change program, and a regular on Australian television and radio. She is the author of several books, has a weekly column in Sunday Life and writes for several magazines and online blogs. She is also a proud ambassador for Diabetes Australia, The Skin & Cancer Foundation, Muscular Dystrophy and FoodBank. As a trained fitness instructor, Joanna remains an avid exercise enthusiast, which she successfully juggles alongside the demands of being a mum to two very energetic boys!
