Gabriella Lazzeri has been teaching English for over twenty years to Primary school children in Italy. Since 1990 she has been responsible for promoting the learning of modern languages and for setting up Teacher-Training Modules at local level. She is a teacher and teacher trainer and at the moment she is actively involved in teacher development programmes in Italy.

Gabriella is the co-author of the four level EFL course, Quest (Longman 1998) and has also published various articles on methodology in specialised magazines. She has been involved in the design and development of a European Language Portfolio for ten to sixteen year old students accredited by the European Commission. She has had considerable experience as an online tutor in teacher training courses and has produced materials for distance learning. She has written didactic materials for a TV programme broadcasted by the national network RAI Educational. At present she is part of various Regional Government working groups.

Steve Marsland has been in TEFL for over twenty years doing TEFL and TEYL. Having worked for International House for many years in Italy and Portugal, he set up the British Language Centre in Sondrio in 1985. The school specialises in General English, but his responsibilities lie in TEYL, Teacher Training and ESP courses.

He has written many ESP courses for various projects including, Primary and Pre-school teachers, Medical Emergency Units, Hydro-electric Power Station Engineers, Hotel and Front Office Staff and Financial Controllers.

Steve has been an examiner for Cambridge University ESOL exams for over fifteen years and has been responsible for the development of the Cambridge Young Learners Exams in the province.

Since 1985 Steve has worked intensively in Primary Education Teacher Training programmes in Italy for the Ministry of Education and has recently developed `Adventure Modules' (It's Magic! /The Time Machine) for short courses with Primary school children done in collaboration with the Local Education Authorities.

The `Quest' projects has taken Steve to many countries where he has been involved in Teacher Training Sessions - Argentina, Chile, Japan,

The Baltic States, France, and Serbia for example. This has given Steve wide experience of the needs of teachers around the world.
