The 15 models in the book are fun and use some clever building techniques that will please young builders and adults alike. I especially like the sense of character and movement that Ekow has brought to each of the animals. Another good point is their sturdy nature as each has a display stand of varying style, making them perfect little desktop buddies. If I was buying this as a gift, I would be tempted to source the bricks for one or two of the models to give with the book. This way, it would be immediately possible to build a model as there are one or two models with more obscure parts... - brothers-brick.com

Über Ekow Nimako

Ekow Nimako studied fine arts at York University in Toronto. An avid builder since childhood, Ekow's first LEGO (R) installation, Aviarageddon, depicted over 30 species of weaponized birds in flight as a commentary on war culture and its link to species endangerment. The theme of animal extinction was further explored in 2015 with his sculpture Silent Knight, commissioned by the City of Toronto for Scotiabank Nuit Blanche. His continuing exhibition, Building Black, investigates the complexities of black identity with artworks that draw from various racial, historical, and folkloric narratives.
