Alistair Lavers has had a long association with both the military and occult. He joined the military at a young age, then left to train as a commercial artist. He has worked as a freelance photographer and a partner in a chain of record stores selling rock and alternative market and clothing. These years in the retail music industry gave him the idea of The Whitborough Novels.
