The Authors: John Crawford is the New Zealand Defence Forces historian and holds an MA in History from the University of Canterbury. He is the author of To Fight for the Empire, An Illustrated History of New Zealand and the South African War, 1899-1902. Lieutenant Colonel Glyn Harper is Senior Lecturer in Command Studies at Massey University. A trained teacher, he joined the Australian Army in 1998 and after eight years transferred to the New Zealand Army. Well known for his work as a military historian, Glyn is the author of Kippenberger: an inspired New Zealand commander and Massacre at Passchendaele. His latest book is Letters From the Battlefield. Glyn Harper lives in Palmerston North.
