Les Bird was born in 1951 in Staffordshire, England. After leaving school he travelled extensively through Africa and Australia before joining the Royal Hong Kong Police in 1976. He served in the Force for over two decades before moving into the private security business world. Bird is a founding member and chairman of Asia's Rhinos Rugby Football Club. He is married with two daughters. He still lives in Hong Kong.
