Bücher von Nicholas the Cat

In 1951, Annabel Carothers sold her family house in London and joined her parents in Mull in order for her daughter to follow in her footsteps and attend Cheltenham Ladies' College. With Carla, a spaniel, and Nicholas, a cat, she set up a smallholding in the days when subsistence farming was almost a necessity. During this period she wrote the novels It Happened to Rain, A Breeze in the Barley and Four Ducks on a Pond. She submitted A Breeze in the Barley to William Heinemann and set to work on a sequel, The Silver Link. Both books were accepted for publication and she was asked to complete a trilogy with Song Without End. The result was Kilcaraig, which was published on 26 April 1982 - the day, tragically, she died. In 2008, her daughter, Fionna Eden-Bushell, discovered Four Ducks on a Pond in a desk drawer and decided to pursue her mother's wish for it to be published.
