This is a collection of ten original essays on the politics involved in the process of making American foreign policy. The book surveys the major institutional and social/public inputs into the foreign policy process. The essays hold a common theme - the increasing fragmentation and decentralization of the policy making process. Two concluding essays examine how the unique features of American government and politics influence the character of American foreign policy.
