Francis Ouimet, who twice won the U.S. Amateur Championship in addition to the U.S. Open, played eight times on the U.S. Walker Cup team. One of the most honored golfers in the history of the game, he was elected an original member of golf's Hall of Fame in 1944, and in 1951 became the first American elected captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.
