Gisela Thwaites is an established hand quilter, and was for many years a tutor at the Liberty Sewing School in London. Over the last few years she has developed a fresh approach to patchwork and quilting, characterised by embellishment and the bold juxtaposition of colours and fabrics. This new direction developed from - and is reinforced by - her annual visits to India and her study of Indian textiles and embroidery techniques.
Gisela has contributed to a number of books and specialist needlework publications, and she exhibits, demonstrates and teaches widely.
