Ian Law is Senior Lecturer in the School of Sociology and Social Policy, and Director of the 'Race' and Public Policy Research Unit at the University of Leeds. Publications include The Local Politics of Race (Macmillan, 1986) (with Ben-Tovim, Gabriel and Stredder), Local Government and Thatcherism (Routledge, 1990) (with Butcher, Mullard and Leach) and Racism, Ethnicity and Social Policy (Prentice Hall, 1996).
