Books by Jim Dine

Jim Dine (born 1935) rose to prominence in the late 1950s and with his innovative performances, mixed-media assemblages, paintings and sculptures and was a key player in the first wave of Pop Art. Working prolifically in a wide variety of mediums, and particularly admired as one of the greatest draughtsmen and printmakers of his time, he has imprinted the character of his art and vision within every chosen sphere, whether it be in vigorous paintings, monumental sculptures or (more recently) in photographic form. Having exhibited his work internationally in galleries and museum retrospectives, in the USA, the Far East and throughout Europe, the many permutations of his most familiar motifs and themes - Valentine's hearts, robes and the Venus de Milo among others - have become instantly recognisable icons of contemporary art. Marco Livingstone (born 1952) is a leading authority on contemporary art, with a particular interest in Pop Art and figurative painting, on both of which areas he has published extensively. He has curated Pop Art exhibitions throughout the world as well as touring retrospectives of Patrick Caulfield, Duane Hanson, David Hockney, Allen Jones, R.B. Kitaj, Peter Phillips, Paula Rego, George Segal and Tom Wesselmann. His publications include extended catalogues for those exhibitions as well as monographs on Caulfield, Dine, Hockney, Jones, Kitaj and Duane Michals.
