Edinburgh pianist and writer Joan Rowe, a former history teacher and music lecturer, endured a chaotic childhood. Music and writing became her lifeline. An inherited WW1 navy diary inspired Duty (Matador 2014) and its sequel Living With Shadows. Joan has also written a memoir In Search of Home describing her 23 different homes.
