John Baylis is Emeritus Professor of Politics and International Relations and a former Pro-Vice Chancellor at Swansea University. Prior to that he had been Professor of International Politics and Dean of Social Sciences at Aberystwyth University. His books include Anglo-American Defence Relations 1939-1984 (Macmillan, 1984); Alternative Nuclear Futures: The Role of Nuclear Weapons in the Post-Cold War World, with Robert O'Neill (OUP, 2000); The Makers of Nuclear Strategy, with John Garnett (Pinter,1991); The Globalization of World Politics, with Steve Smith and Patricia Owens (5th Edition, OUP, 2014); An Introduction to Global Politics, with Steven Lamy, Steve Smith and Patricia Owens (2nd. Edition, OUP, 2013); and The British Nuclear Experience: The Role of Beliefs, Culture and Identity, with Kristan Stoddart (OUP, 2015). He has a BA, MSc (Econ), PhD and D.Litt., from Swansea and Aberystwyth Universities. James J. Wirtz is the Dean of the School of International Graduate Studies, Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. He is the co-editor of Over The Horizon Proliferation Threats (Stanford University Press, 2012) and Intelligence: The Secret World of Spies 4th ed. (Oxford University Press, 2014). He received his BA and MA from the University of Delaware and his MPhil and PhD from Columbia University. Colin S. Gray is Professor Emeritus of Strategic Studies at the University of Reading. He had a Presidential Appointment for 5 years in the Reagan Administration and has long been an adviser to the US and British governments. His professional concerns and writings span most domains of strategy. His 28 books include Modern Strategy (Oxford, Oxford University Press, 1999); Another Bloody Century: Future Warfare (London: Phoenix, 2006); The Strategy Bridge: Theory for Practice (Oxford, Oxford University Press 2010); War, Peace and International Relations: An Introduction to Strategic History, 2nd edn. (Abingdon: Routledge, 2011); and Airpower for Strategic Effect (Maxwell AFB: Air University Press, 2012). He completed his Bridge trilogy with Perspectives on Strategy, (2013) and Strategy and Defence Planning (2014). Currently he is working primarily on Special Operations for SOCOM (Special Operations Command).
