Books by John Saville

John Saville is Emeritus Professor of Economic and Social History at the University of Hull. For a quarter of a century he was joint editor of the Socialist Register and is joint editor of the Dictionary of Labour Biography. His recent books include 1848: The British State and the Chartist Movement (1987) and The British Labour Movement: A Commentary (1988). He is a vice-president of the Labour History Society, president of the Oral History Society, and a former chairman of the Economic and Social History Committee of the original Social Sciences Research Council.
