Located in St. Paul, Minnesota, JULIE HELLWICH started her collection of "Tools for Smart Living" in 1999; the Smart Women line is now carried in over 700 stores and online outlets nationwide. A portion of profits go to various nonprofit groups, like Women Against Military Madness and Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. Smart Women products are illustrated by HALEY JOHNSON, president and senior designer of Haley Johnson Design in Minneapolis. Johnson's work has appeared in both national and international design publications.
