TD Macdonald was a writer and poet with a deep interest in Scots and Gaelic language. As well as gathering proverbs for this collection, he wrote The Lords of Lochaber, Celtic Dialects, Dain Eadar-Theangaichte, Dain an am Chogaidh and Dain an Deidh a Chogaidh.
