Tim Flach is best known for the originality that he brings to capturing animal behavior and characteristics. In this, he is often exploring the close relationship between animals and humans, in particular how humanity imposes and reveals its ideals when trying to understand and work with animals. Flach's previous books with Abrams are Equus and Dogs. Lewis Blackwell is the author of Abrams' Life and Love of Cats and wrote the text that accompanied Flach's book Dogs. He is a recognised leader in creative and photographic practice. For almost a decade he led the creative development of Getty Images, the world's largest photo agency. He is currently a visiting professor at the School of Creative Leadership at Steinbeis University Berlin. His other books include The End of Print, Soon: The Future Culture of Brands, Twentieth-Century Type, Photowisdom, and The Life and Love of Trees.
