Criminal Profiling: An Introduction to Behavioral Evidence Analysis by Brent E. Turvey
This work is centered on the Deductive Profiling method developed by the author. The method based on forensic evidence and does not involve the use of statistically-generated, or inductive, profiles. It approaches each criminal incident as its own universe of behavioural evidence that must be assessed apart from other seemingly like crimes. Its key themes include reliance upon forensic evidence to establish behaviours, the importance of professional objectivity, and the use of profiling as an investigative process rather than a last resort Chapters include: criminal profiling and the law; cases that benefit from profiling; cyberpatterns - criminal behaviour on the Internet; and trial strategy.
