Summary

An epic tale of escape, love and survival for star-crossed lovers in apartheid South Africa

Kalahari Passage Summary

Kalahari Passage by Candi Miller

It is 1964 in apartheid South Africa and Koba, a beautiful young San girl, is being transported back to her homeland in the Kalahari desert, in disgrace. Caught in bed with Mannie, the son of the white family she grew up with, she has been arrested, imprisoned and sent for repatriation. When her police guard hands Koba over to his sinister friend, Andre Marais, on a deserted road at the start of her journey, she knows she must escape and find her own way across a parched landscape patrolled by lion. Koba, a skilled hunter and gatherer, will need all her physical and spiritual power to survive, but her greatest challenge will be meeting her former people, should she reach them. Pursued by her captor, Koba runs, not knowing if she'll ever see Mannie again.
