Creativity is a term often discussed in relation to education, particularly in primary schools. This book sets out to explore what it means in both practical and theoretical terms for children, teachers and the context in which they work. The key areas of planning, resourcing, organizing, managing and assessing creativity are dealt with in an accessible and readable style. Cameos and classroom examples are used in order to indicate effective strategies for promoting creativity within and across curriculum subjects. Creativity is shown to be a powerful force which can be harnessed to increase the learning potential of both teachers and children.

About Florence Beetlestone

Florence Beetlestone is an early years consultant. Prior to this she worked as Principal Lecturer in Early Childhood Studies at the University of Greenwich. She was the coordinator of the Greenwich Early Years Network. She has also worked as a Deputy Head in a large Primary School in Haringey and has been a nursery, infant and junior teacher and also a pre-school playgroup supervisor. A strong advocate of parental partnership she has worked in Tower Hamlets on developing science packs for use in the home. This research is featured in Spencer M & Dombey H (1994) First Steps Together Trentham Books Ltd. She has written Bright Ideas - History Projects (1993), Victorians Poster Pack (1992), and Creative Development (1998) together with numerous articles for Infant and Junior Projects (Scholastic).
