About Kenneth A Eaton, PhD, MSc, BDS, MGDS RCS(Eng), FFGDP(UK), FFPH, FHEA, FICD, DHC (Visiting Professor, University College London Eastman and King's College London Dental Institutes Honorary Professor, University of Kent Visiting Professor, Leeds University Specialist in Periodontics and Dental Public Health, London, UK)

Professor Eaton is currently a Visiting Professor at University College London and an Honorary Professor at the University of Kent. From 1997 - 2002, he was the Director of the National Centre for the Continuing Professional Education of Dentists. He is listed by the General Dental Council as a specialist in both Periodontology and Dental Public Health. He is currently on the editorial board of a number of journals and is the Chairman of the British Dental Editors and Writers Forum. He is a past member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Dental Research and President of the Education Research Group of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR). In July 2008 he became the first President of the newly created IADR Network for Practice-based Research. He was elected as President of the European Association of Dental Public Health. In September 2010 and was the first Chair of the Platform for Better Oral Health in Europe. He has produced over 370 publications, many on different aspects of periodontology, and since 2017 has registered 231 reviews with Publons. Phil qualified from King's London in 1978. He joined the RAF after qualifying and was a general dental practitioner until taking an MSc in Periodontologyin 1992, after which he was RAF Adviser in Periodontology and ran the RAF School of Dental Hygiene. After leaving the RAF in 1996 he lectured at theEastman Dental Institute and worked in several specialist practices. For 10 years he worked alongside the renowned Bernie Kieser at the PeriodontalPractice in London and now practices exclusively at the Briars Dental Centre in Newbury. He is on the GDC's Specialist Register. He has been an examinerfor the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MGDS) and has served two terms on the Council of the British Society of Periodontology (BSP). Phil hashad papers published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, Dental Update, Dental Practice and Independent Dentistry and is on the editorialboards of Dental Health and Primary Dental Care. He is a Module editor on the eDen project for e-Learning for Healthcare. He lectures throughout theUK and internationally, and is responsible for the perio component of the FGDP(UK) Diploma in Restorative Dentistry in both London and Manchester.
