Self-directed Learning in Counsellor Training by Mary Charleton
Self-directed learning supports the autonomy of the learner: a link is made between this type of training and a practitioner who supports her client's power and autonomy. This text provides a developmental model of self-directed learning for counsellors, with exercises and learning methods. The practicalities of this system are discussed, together with student accounts of group learning. The book also outlines methods of self- and peer-assessment, and examines possible criticisms of a self-directed course.
