What Rosie Did Next by Nina Dufort
When Ben Hooke dies, his widow Rosie sheds tears of relief - but only until she realises that she risks losing her beloved Kentish pub, the Jack Cade, unless she can raise enough money to pay off the loan to the brewery. Not having Ben drinking all the profits is a major help, but more drastic action is needed too. Particularly as the Jack Cade has caught the eye of Vicky Croswell, predatory wife of the brewery MD, who sees the opportunity of acquiring an idyllic country house on the cheap. Vicky enlists the help of her former lover to thwart Rosie's fund-raising schemes. But she doesn't count on the Jack Cade weaving its summer magic round Ollie, who finds his allegiance shifting to the pub - and to its lovely owner.
