"So you really want to learn Maths is a triumph: comprehensive, lucid, clearly and attractively laid out with plenty of exercisesAlthough particularly aimed at pupils preparing for the 11+ (or Common Entrance at), it provides the essential foundation for GCSE. Book 1 starts with basic number work and the moves on to fractions, decimals, area, angles, probability and so on." John Clare, The Daily Telegraph "This is a book by a teacher who understands children. There are many attractive features and expect that children will be inspired by this material. I imagine that this text will enjoy widespread acclaim and become a 'standard' work." David Hanson, member of the ISEB 13+ setting team "What a wonderful book: easy to read but so informative, with a clean layout, approprite diagrams, good cross-curricular presentation, clear instructions and excellent extension exercises for the more able children. This is the Common Entrance textbook that school teachers have been waiting for." Moira Laffey, The Old Malthouse School "These books provide a thorough grounding in maths. Detailed explanations are given through graded exercises, practical work, investigations and puzzles. The material is neatly laid-out, well organised with clear instructions and excellent diagrams, and very informative. The author even brings in fascinating snippets of history throughout the books: how the Egyptians wrote fractions, the history of the penny and of percentages, the origin of imperial units and much more. For instance, did you know that it was the Greeks who established the 'foot' as their basic unit of length and that, according to legend, this Greek unit was based on the measurement of Hercules' foot? I am very impressed by the quality of material, which is very substantial both in content and in weight (these books are heavy!) and would definately recommend them as a complete course."
