Dubliner Jim Watkins was schooled at Saggart NS and Blackrock College, became a vet in 1957, and practised in many parts of Ireland. He has chaired a pharmaceutical company, was army Veterinary Officer at the Curragh, and ran Dublin County's horse-and-dog pound. He now lives in Ballina Co Tipperary, where he chairs a highly successful Tidy Towns Committee.
