I have been writing poems and short stories for several years primarily for my own private enjoyment. Writing poems has always been my first love although story writing is also a great passion as I think it gives you the chance to develop characters and situations. This collection of short stories "The Horses of Ercall Wood" is a series of made up stories I used to tell my daughter when she was younger when she went horse riding for nearly fifteen years with a small riding school based on the Ercall Wood. The horses and the location are all real, nestled as it is in the Shropshire countryside. Sadly, the riding school which was operated for many years by a woman called Barbara who taught many generations of children to ride is no longer there, but the field still exists as do some of the horses.
