Career Creativity: Explorations in the Remaking of Work by Maury A. Peiperl (London Business School)

Creativity in the face of both adversity and opportunity is the hallmark of career success. The premise of this book is that careers and creativity are broadly connected, both at the level of the individual and at the level of the larger institutions of work and society. Careers are both creative endeavours themselves, and introduce creativity into the wider employment system. By exploring models of creativity and career, and linking them with examples from a diverse array of professions, countries, and industries, this volume provides an in-depth look at contemporary careers.

Career Creativity Reviews

Whether by choice or by chance, a growing proportion of the population in major countries no longer have job security or career paths within stable organizations. Career Creativity tackles all the latest issues stemming from this major shift: the rise of knowledge workers, the problem of achieving work/life balance, the mixed blessing of being free agents, and the power of those with talent in creative industries. The collective insights of leading scholars map a new intellectual territory that also has practical implications for organizational and social policy. * Rosabeth Moss Kanter, Harvard Business School, best-selling author of Evolve!: Succeeding in the Digital Culture of Tomorrow *
This book is a fascinating and highly relevant collection . . . that brings career theory and practice into line with the rapidly changing world of work that we are all experiencing. * Edgar H. Schein, Sloan Fellows Professor of Management Emeritus, MIT Sloan School of Management *
Creativity is both cause and effect of successful, effective, and meaningful careers - and even a way of viewing careers. The landscape of careers is changing. Boyatzis, Professor, Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University *
