Maserati 250F in Focus Summary

Maserati 250F in Focus by Anthony Pritchard

Competing throughout the 2500cc Grand Prix Formula years of 1954-60, the Maserati 250F is one of the most famous and iconic racing cars ever built. Maserati 250F In Focus is one of the most detailed accounts ever written about a single model, and this superbly illustrated book features photographs by Tom March, one of the 1950s leading motor racing photographers, along with historic engine cutaways, chassis drawings, and technical descriptions of the 250F's evolution and development. Anthony Pritchard's lively and informative text includes reminiscences from some of the leading drivers of the day, including Sir Stirling Moss, Juan Fangio, and Mike Hawthorn - drivers who raced these historic machines during the halycon days when Maserati battled with Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, and Vanwall for Grand Prix supremacy. From the 1954 Argentine Grand Prix, to the 1960 US Grand Prix, a record of the chassis and race numbers of every 250F to have competed during this period is presented, along with detailed race histories and results, completing this most comprehensive and authoritative of books on Maserati's racing legend.

Maserati 250F in Focus Reviews

A NUMBER of books have charted the success of the Maserati 250F, but none in as much detail as this. The book looks great, too, with hundreds of colour and black and white pictures capturing the car in action on the track and up close. Auto Express a fitting tribute to author Anthony Pritchard. It is as comprehensive as you would expect ... and there is a plethora of superb photos. Classic & Sports Car (UK) This useful reference work [...] stands as an epitaph to one of our sport's most dependable historians ... contains all the useful bits in user-friendly format. Motor Sport Every race during that period that a 250F competed in, from GPs to club events, is covered in this book, accompanied by an excellent collection of monochrome photographs - some familiar, such as the famous shot of Fangio powersliding through the fast downhill swerves at Rouen in 1957, and some rarely seen before - which are reproduced in Veloce's usual superb production quality ... essential reading for any enthusiast with an interest in this halcyon era of the sport. Speedscene a superb rounding up of facts and figures, enough detail indeed, to satisfy even the severest critic. RETRO SPEED this is probably the definitive history of the type. Austro Classic There have been a fair few books on the 250F, including an excellent one by the late Dave McKinney, but this new one from prolific UK writer Pritchard is a valuable addition ... I found it a very enjoyable read. New Zealand Classic Car Everything you need to know about the legendary racing titan. Classic Cars If you have read other books produced by Pritchard, the text is his usual lively style which brings to life this fully factual book. In essence, through his writing Pritchard has transported the reader back to a time when all seemed right with the world. It serves, too, as a final epitaph for a true motor racing aficionado. Vintage Racecar/Vintage Roadcar a worthy addition to any Maserati book collection. Veloce Today There is much to like here. The book is well written, and the layout and print of this comprehensive accounting of Maserati's racing legend is of fantastic quality. It would make a great reference for those interested in the Golden age of Grand Prix, and Maserati in particular. Petrolicious
