Books by Alan Thomas

Alan Thomas is Professor of Old Age Psychiatry at Newcastle University, UK. He has been an academic psychiatrist for over 18 years and has published over 100 scientific articles (mainly on aspects of depressive illness and the dementias) and book chapters. He is co-editor of the Oxford Textbook of Old Age Psychiatry and has written chapters on depression, dementia and Alzheimer's disease. He speaks regularly at national and international conferences. He has worked as a consultant psychiatrist in the UK National Health Service for over 14 years. He is an elder in Newcastle Reformed Evangelical Church. Previously he trained for the ministry and spent time at Westminster Theological Seminary. He served in Baptist churches before returning to work in psychiatry, but still enjoys preaching and helping with pastoral care in his church.
