Betty Gilderdale is a contributor to The Oxford History of New Zealand Literature and The Dictionary of New Zealand Biography. She is the recipient of the PEN Best First Book Award for A Sea Change: 145 Years of New Zealand Junior Fiction and the author of Introducing Margaret Mahy and The Little Yellow Digger.
