Books by Brian Hinton
Brian Hinton runs an art centre on the Isle of Wight - Dimola Lodge - the former home of pioneer Victorian photographer, Julia Margaret Cameron. He first visited the Isle of Wight in 1970 to attend the music festival, and has since written its official history, Message to Love and the follow-up, Return to Rock Island, about the new Isle of Wight festivals. He is the author of acclaimed biographies of Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Elvis Costello and Ashley Hutchings, plus two recent books on alternative country music, of which the latest, South by South West, was named by Uncut magazine as one of its 20 best books of the year. Brian is often on British radio and TV, talking about either the Victorian arts scene, or the music of the 60s, most recently appearing on BBC1's Countryfile, Michael Wood's Myths and Legends for BBC2, and with forthcoming appearances on ITV with Chris Tarrant as part of Tarrant's Travels, and on Channel 4, interviewed by Jonathan Glancy.
