Books by Charles Chesshire
Charles Chesshire has spent his adult life in horticulture and gardening. Now living near Ludlow in Shropshire, he designs and writes about gardens all over Britain. After spending 10 years designing gardens and teaching garden courses in New York and Long Island, he returned to England to become director of Burford House Gardens, the clematis specialists in Worcestershire. He helped to introduce a number of new clematis varieties, especially from Japan, and was curator of the National Collection of Clematis held there. In addition, Charles Chesshire currently gives garden tours and lectures widely on a number of subjects, including clematis, roses, garden design and Japaneses gardens, which hold a particular fascination for him. He is also consultant designer to Sudeley Castle Gardens. Charles is the author of the RHS Practical Guides on Clematis, Flowering Shrubs and Climbing Plants, and was the photographic editor for the Encyclopedia of Clematis. He has also written numerous articles and book reviews for magazines and newspapers.
