Books by Christiania Whitehead

Christiania Whitehead was born in 1969 in Newcastle, where her poetry was first published while still at school in Bloodaxe's Bossy Parrot (1987) anthology as a prizewinner of the Evening Chronicle Poetry Competition, and later in Carol Rumens' New Women Poets (1990). She won an Eric Gregory Award in 1998. Her first and only book of poems, The Garden of Slender Trust (1999), was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. She was Professor of Middle English Literature at the University of Warwick, and is now an Associate of the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at Warwick, seconded from 2016 to 2019 to the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, as senior researcher on a three-year team project Region and Nation: Late Medieval Devotion to Northern English Saints, funded by the Swiss National Research Foundation. Her many academic publications include Castles of the Mind: A Study of Medieval Architectural Allegory (University of Wales Press, 2003).
