Danny Shanahan is the author and illustrator of two previous Abrams titles. He has published more than 700 cartoons, covers and illustrations for The New Yorker since his work first appeared there in 1988. His work has also been featured in Playboy, Esquire and Time, as well as in many other periodicals and anthologies. He lives in Rhinebeck, New York. Scott Spencer (who wrote the introduction) is the author of Endless Love, which sold more than two million copies and has been translated into twenty languages. In 1981 it was made into a "horrific" movie by Franco Zeffirelli, starring Brooke Shields, which Spencer is proud to say turns up on many critics' lists of the worst movies of all time. He is also the author of Waking the Dead, Men in Black, The Rich Man's Table and A Ship Made of Paper.
