Elaine Kelman is a consultant speech and language therapist, the head of the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering and Professional Lead for Whittington Health Speech and Language Therapy Services in London. She has worked in the field of stammering for more than 30 years, providing specialist therapy for children and their families, young people and adults who stammer. Elaine is a certified European Fluency Specialist, a board member of the International Fluency Association, chair of the European Fluency Specialists' board, an affiliate of the American Speech and Hearing Association and a specialist adviser for stammering for the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. Alison Nicholas is an expert speech and language therapist who worked at the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering for 23 years. She is currently based in Cardiff, Wales and is working independently providing specialist therapy for children and their families, young people and adults who stammer. She is a certified European Fluency Specialist and an Associate Tutor at Cardiff Metropolitan University where she teaches the Disorders of Fluency module to undergraduate students. She is trained in Solution Focused Brief Therapy and holds a Certificate in Solution Focused Practice. Elaine and Alison have contributed to the development of various therapy programmes for children who stammer at the Centre, particularly the management of early childhood stammering and have led and contributed to a range of publications. They have participated in the Centre's national and international training programme and have been closely involved in the Centre's research programme, which includes developing the evidence base of therapy for early childhood stammering.
