G.J. Greenhough lived in the Black Country and went to school in Wolverhampton. He studied History at Birmingham University and undertook postgraduate degrees at Cambridge and London Universities. After a spell in commercial banking, he taught History in Nottingham and London schools before leaving to concentrate on writing and voluntary work.
