Books by Jerry Peek
Jerry Peek has used UNIX since the early 1980s. He has consulted on UNIX and VMS, developed and taught UNIX courses, been a staff writer for O'Reilly & Associates, and has worked as a programmer and system administrator. He's now doing graduate studies in computer science. When Jerry gets a minute or a month, he hikes and bicycles the California coast and travels to obscure places in Latin America. Tim O'Reilly is founder and president of O'Reilly & Associates, publisher of the X Window System series and the popular Nutshell Handbooks(R) on UNIX. Tim has had a hand in writing or editing many of the books published by O'Reilly & Associates. He is also the author of a book about science-fiction writer Frank Herbert. Tim's long-term vision for the company is to create a vehicle where creative people can support themselves by exploring interesting ideas. Technical book publishing is just the first step. Tim graduated cum laude from Harvard in 1975 with a B.A. in classics. Mike Loukides is an editor for O'Reilly & Associates, with a focus on developing titles on UNIX utilities and system administration. He is the author of System Performance Tuning and UNIX for FORTRAN Programmers. Mike previously worked at Multiflow Computer, where he created all of Multiflow's documentation on programming languages. Mike's interests are system administration, networking, programming languages, and computer architecture. His academic background includes degrees in electrical engineering (B.S.) and English literature (Ph.D.). He is also a passable pianist -- in fact, one of the few amateur pianists who even tries to play music by Olivier Messiaen.
