Books by Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke

Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke was awarded the Greek National Poetry Prize in 1985 and the Greek Academy's Poetry Prize in 2000. She was born in Athens in 1939; her godfather and earliest encourager was the poet and novelist Nikos Kazantzakis. She is fluent in English, French, and Russian and is an acclaimed translator of, among others, Seamus Heaney and Alexander Pushkin. She lives partly in Athens, partly on the nearby island of Aegina.Karen Van Dyck is the Kimon A. Doukas Professor of Modern Greek Literature and the Director of the Program in Hellenic Studies at Columbia University. Her publications include 'Kassandra and the Censors: Greek Poetry since 1967'; 'The Rehearsal of Misunderstanding: Three Collections by Contemporary Greek Women Poets'; and the co-edited anthology, 'A Century of Greek Poetry: 1900-2000'.
