Lewis H. Gannwas a deputy curator of the Africa collection at the Hoover Institution and later curated the West European Collection. He was very interested in the intersecting histories of Africa and Europe as well as German history, colonialism in Africa, military affairs, guerrilla warfare, race relations, the history of Hispanic people in the United States and comparative studies in Japanese and European colonialism. He died in 1997. Peter J. Duignanwas a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution.He wrote extensively on comparative colonial history, modern European history, African documentation and bibliography, Hispanics in the United States, U.S. foreign policy, Africa, immigration to the United States, and the Atlantic Alliance (the U.S. and Europe since 1945). His research also focused on the role of immigration in the making and remaking of America, Islamic fundamentalism, and Americans and African-Americans in Africa and Africans in America, a study of reciprocal relations.He passed away in 2012."
