LIZ CARPENTER is called by Bob Orben, Republican humorist and speechwriter, "a triple threat of brains, bounce and banter." An author and senior consultant with Hill and Knowlton, she was named by three presidents to positions of trust. For President Johnson she served as executive assistant to the vice president and later as White House staff director and press secretary to the First Lady.
