Nat Alcock is an emeritus reader at the University of Warwick and is President of the Vernacular Architecture Group. He has worked for many years recording vernacular buildings, and his most recent book is Documenting the History of Houses (2003). Cary Carson has recently retired as Vice-President for Research at Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and the American Philosophical Society. A social historian and student of material culture, he contributes to scholarship on British and early American vernacular architecture and material life. His books include Of Consuming Interests: The Style of Life in the Eighteenth Century (1994).
