I had an unusual, sometimes chaotic childhood, and a turbulent adolescence. During this time books were often a refuge. I read everything and anything, but I had an overriding love for crime fiction. I willfully decided at the age of 14 to be an actress and promptly took myself off to the BRIT School. It turned out I wasn't very good at acting but quite liked writing scripts. I went on to take a BA (Hons) in English Literature and Drama.
After a few years travelling and floundering I won a full scholarship to undertake an MA in Journalism. It turned out I was almost as bad at news-gathering as I had been at acting. I found myself half-heartedly working for a building federation's PR department writing about flooring and tiles in 2014. By this time I had a folder on my laptop with lots of beginnings of novels; one character who wouldn't get out of my head was Madison Attalee. I decided to write about her and see where it went and so 'I, Witness' was penned.
