Stan Kelly-Bootle has been computing since the 1950s, when he graduated from Cambridge University in Pure Mathematics. He helped pioneer the EDSAC I computer. He is a contributing editor to Software Development Magazine and a regular columnist in UNIX Review since 1984. His other books include Understanding Unix and Mastering Turbo C by Sybex; and The Computer Contradictionary, and The Devil's DP Dictionary. Peter Dyson is a software engineering consultant with 20 years of experience in engineering, software development, and technical support. He is the author of nearly 30 books on operating systems and software, including The PC User's Pocket Dictionary and Unix Desk Reference by Sybex.
