Born in Heisler, Alberta, Robert Kroetsch published his first novel, But We are Exiles in 1965, and his book The Studhorse Man (1969) won the Governor General's Award for Fiction. Throughout his career, he steadily elaborated his indelible mark on Canadian writing with his fiction, non-fiction, poetry, teaching, and scholarship. Robert Rawdon Wilson is Professor Emeritus from the Department of English at the University of Alberta. He has also been a visiting professor at Mills College (USA), Deakin University and University of Melbourne (Australia), and the University of Aarhus (Denmark). His other books include In Palamedes' Shadow: Explorations in Play, Game, and Narrative Theory, Shakespearean Narrative, and Boundaries, and Other Fictions, a collection of short stories.
