Stavros Panteli is a Cypriot-born historian living in London. He has lectured and written extensively on Cyprus and the Greek world in general. Amongst his many publications are: A New History of Cyprus; The Making of Modern Cyprus; Gregoris Afxentiou - the hero of Machaeras; and The Historical Dictionary of Cyprus. His latest work, A History of Cyprus - From Foreign Domination to Troubled Independence was published in June 2000. He is also a major contributor to the definitive five-volume History of Cyprus currently being published by the Makarios Foundation. His forthcoming titles include: Sir Winston Churchill: An Analysis of his Cyprus Policy 1907-65; The Exile and Release of Archbishop Makarios 1956-57 and The Making of Modern Greece.
